About

Hello! Welcome to NedHenrys.com  : )

I hope that no matter what walk in life you have chosen, that here and there… you will make the time to let the walk choose you. In the midst of the events and responsibilities we must all engage ourselves with, precious moments and discoveries are quite easily lost or kicked to the side because of work, family, civic, religious, financial, and a host of other inherent priorities. To “borrow” a favorite quip from a friend “It’s a full time job just staying alive!”

So what can a person expect to find within the passages from Ned Henry’s musings?

One will find a variety of pictures, short stories and essays, about the times in my life where the walk that chose me was that of the outdoors. Primarily these are related to my excursions a-field hunting and fishing. This forum is my opportunity to promote these traditions for certain, but more importantly I hope to share the sentiments about these adventures from a deeply personal level.

Trying to put my finger on the pulse of the exact type of material comprising the short stories however, is a lot like having to write a ten thousand word manuscript on the topic of “The qualities that define my uniqueness”. Generally the sound heard following such a request would be that of crickets. So given the task of hitting the nail on the head- I will confidently continue to demonstrate how to smash your thumb.

After having put considerable thought into the nature of my work about playing, I best liken the results as follows.

On the subject of outdoor writing in the area of hunting and fishing, there are scads of books and articles like “How to skin a cape buffalo with a sharp stone” or “My quest for the monster buck of the twenty-first century”. Like many topics of interest, the content is slanted to appease an editor or an audience or to entice them into buying or selling a story based on something sensational. Unlike the lion’s share of these, as silly as it sounds my insights and reflections on hunting and fishing are not in the category of marketable real-estate. So in other words, ones outlook on a subject may vary widely depending upon their perspective and opinions about what constitutes something exceptional.

From the feedback I have on the stories, the accounts I have chosen to share about my favorite outdoor adventures seem to resonate with heartfelt universal appeal. This truly pleases me, to know of others who have never put on the cap of the hunter or fisherman, but who nonetheless appreciate attributes and insights common to all who engage themselves passionately about something.

I hope your visit to NedHenrys.com was time well spent… but more importantly… my wish for you is that something in what lies between the pages will leave with you when you exit.

I hope that you will save a few moments to engage in your favorite outdoor activities soon… I’d love to say more… but I hear the fish are biting.
